Dear Nurse Heartburn,
I am recently divorced and filled with confusion and frustration on which dating sites to use? There are hundreds of advertised sites which confuse me. I am frozen with fear. Help Nurse Heartburn.
Dear Confused Divorcee,
I had similar anxiety when I went online to meet Mr. wonderful. It takes courage to listen to your inner voice and take the leap. Ask your single friends for recommended sites and/or find the “browse for free” ones. Take a personal inventory of your likes and dislikes before the search begins. Is there a particular type you would like to meet? The goal is to find a compatible partner so do your homework and take a leap of faith. Narrow your choices to the better matched.
That first online conversation will be a sharing of the basics. This is not the time to chew-up your EX or complain about your lactose intolerance. Too many calls before actually meeting can be counter-productive so have a game plan ready. Remember the KISS principle and suggest a simple place for a 1-2 hour meetup. Always let family or friends know the WHO, WHERE, WHEN details. Don’t travel far away; your community has lots of cute, interesting places for this meeting.
Happy dating and relating.
